Auto text action does what is the main purpose of this application. It replaces short piece of
text (trigger) with larger one you set.If you write a lot,you probably already noticed that certain
phrases are repeated more often than others. For example if you answer a lot of emails it is
very likely that you often have to type phrases like:
"Thank you for your email"
"We will answer your question as soon as possible"
"You may contact us at this address"
Use auto text action to simplify writing of your common phrases.
For each of above examples you can set different trigger (or even the same if it has sense)
and next time you have to type a common phrase you just need to type corresponding trigger
and application will automatically replace it with appropriate text.
Example1:
Let's make an Auto text action for "Thank you for your email" phrase.
On the left pane of application choose Group where you want to store your new action. For
this purpose it would be convenient to choose "Thanks" group (or make new one if you wish).
Now click "Add new" button located bellow right pane.
-Choose "Auto text" option at the top of the dialog and fill required fields.
-At the "Description" field put some short description of action like "email thanks".
-Choose your trigger and type it under "Trigger" field.Let it be string "thm" for this example.
-Finally type your phrase under "Text" field.
Next time when you need to write your phrase all you have to do is to type your trigger and
press "space" (assuming that "space" is checked under "Action keys" option in the options
dialog).Typing buddy automatically replaces your trigger word with actual phrase.
Example2:
Maybe you like to end your emails adding your signature and contact email address.
Of course nowadays everybody has at least 3 or 4 email accounts.
You can do the following:
Simple solution:
email1@host.com (assign a trigger for your first email, let it be "em1" string)
email2@host2.com (......................"em2")
email3@mycompany.com(....................."em3")
next time you need to insert your third email just type "em3" and press "space"(or whichever action key you set). Your trigger is replaced with actual email address.
Smarter and more effective:
Choose the same trigger for all your emails.Let it be simple "em" string.
Next time you need to enter your email address quickly just type "em" and press "space".
Action menu pops up and allows you to insert any of your emails by clicking on
corresponding menu item or pressing appropriate menu shortcut ("1" for first item."2" for
second item etc...)
Even more effective:
Make a new group on the left pane and name it "Emails".Than assign an trigger ("em" for
example) for whole group (rightclick and choose "set trigger",or double click under trigger
column for "emails" group).
Now put all your actions containing emails under "emails" group. You don't have to assign
triggers for those actions, leave "trigger" field empty if you like. All you have to do is type "em"
and press "space".Action menu pops and allows you to choose an item to be inserted in your
writings.
