Open folder action allows you to open any folder (directory) on your computer from anywhere
just typing few letters you set as trigger.
Opening root directory or "program files" isn't so hard to do.But there are many folders which
location is hard to remember like
C:\Documents and Settings\John\My Documents\My Pictures
Browsing for such folders (especially on repetitive basis) can be really boring and tedious.
(If you type an internet address instead of folder name Typing buddy will launch that site in
default web browser)
Example1:
-Click "Add new" button bellow right pane and choose "Open folder" as action.
-Under "Description" field type short description (for above example "My pictures" string
would be all right).
-Under "Trigger" type string which will invoke action to be executed. In this case "mpic" or
"mp" or "pics" would be reasonable.
-Click Browse and choose folder you wish to open (in this case you browse for C:\Documents
and Settings\John\My Documents\My Pictures)
Next time you want to see your pictures just type "mp" and press action key ("space" by
default).You can type your trigger anywhere-on the Desktop,in a text editor,calculator,web
browser or wherever you like.
Example2:
Drag and drop a folder from windows explorer on the right pane of Typing Buddy.Dialog will
pop up and you only need to type some trigger and description without browsing for folder.
Example3:
Remembering triggers for more then few folders can be difficult so it is more convenient to
make a new group for that purpose only and name it "folders" or something like that. Now put
all your "Open folder" actions under that group and assign a trigger for whole group by
rightclicking on group and choosing "set trigger".(or doubleclick under "trigger" column of
group).Type "folders" or whatever you like as trigger for whole group.
Now you only need to invoke action menu by typing group trigger.Action menu pops up and
you can choose which folder to open.
